It is true when they say that people share a common nature but are trained in gender roles . Growing up in an environment where you were told what a women should and shouldn’t do wasn’t easy. Lucky I was a nonconformist ,free-thinking girl growing up . Who didn’t care much about what people said .I stared playing FIFA on PS2 in 2008 after my Brother gave me his PS2 console .
A start of something new
This past weekend I had the privilege of attending Play FIFA Like a Girl workshop . Hosted by well-known Esports content creator ,Sam tech girl Wright in partnership with Goliath Gaming. The purpose of this workshop was to get more women interested in playing FIFA . Teaching them the basics of the game and how the controls work . But more importantly to give them the confidence and believe that they can enter the Esports gaming community .
I had the opportunity to play a classic match against Julio Beast Bianchi who is a competitive FIFA player and FIFA team captain for Goliath Gaming . Julio ranked number 2 in South Africa for FIFA 21. In addition I also got to meet Thabo YVNG SAVAGE Moloi , who is a completive FIFA player for Goliath Gaming and a Red Bull Esports Athlete . The 20 year old is currently ranked 4th in South Africa for FIFA 21 .

This initiative comes at a perfect timing as FIFA 22 has introduce the feature where users can play as a woman on the Pro Clubs mode . This feature lets you create and customize a female on the game. Hopeful EA Sports and FIFA announce that they have introduced Women’s football clubs into the game . Then we can have more women take part in FIFA ESport like Laura Morena .
